各位朋友：大家好！

知识分子是社会的良心、民族的脊梁、国家的财富，也是未来的希望。

Dear friends, greetings!

Intellectuals are the conscience of society, the backbone of the nation, the treasure of the country, and the hope of the future.

孔子曾说：「古之学者为己，今之学者为人。」张载把学者的使命概括为「为天地立心，为生民立命，为往圣继绝学，为万世开太平」。费希特将学者的使命归纳为以社会服务和提高整个人类道德风尚为己任。我们坚信知识分子的真正使命不仅体现在其学术的造诣上，更表现在家国情怀和对人类文明的责任担当上。托尼·本尼特倡导「实践型知识份子」。

Confucius said: "In ancient times, scholars learned for themselves; today, scholars learn for others." Zhang Zai summarized the scholar's mission as "to set the heart of Heaven and Earth, to establish the destiny of the people, to carry on the lost teachings of past sages, and to open up lasting peace for all generations." Fichte defined the intellectual's mission as serving society and elevating the moral character of all humanity. We firmly believe that the true mission of intellectuals is reflected not only in their academic achievements but also in their patriotic commitment and sense of responsibility toward human civilization. Tony Bennett advocated for the "practicing intellectual."

时代经历百年未有之大变局，也是知识分子建功立业难得的机遇，社会更急切召唤广大知识分子将理论付诸实践。

Our era is undergoing profound transformations unseen in a century — a rare opportunity for intellectuals to make their mark. Society urgently calls upon intellectuals to put theory into practice.

经与几位同道中人商议，决定以「当代知识分子公益讲堂」为名，举办不定期的腾讯会议或者类似虚拟空间的公益讲座，目前已经有冯志伟、王宁等40位学者开讲，我们诚邀各位专家学者共襄盛举、裨益社会。

After consulting with several like-minded colleagues, we have decided to establish the "Contemporary Intellectuals Public Lecture Series" — a regular (but not fixed-schedule) public lecture series delivered via Tencent Meeting or similar virtual platforms. To date, over 40 distinguished scholars including Feng Zhiwei and Wang Ning have already presented. We sincerely invite scholars and experts from all fields to join us in this endeavor for the benefit of society.
